Quiet Thomas

Thomas stood quietly in the parking lot of a building only use a few times a week.

The lot quickly filled with cars and people; cacophony clouded the air.

The people rushed into the building, took care of this and that, and found their way to the main room.

Thomas stood quietly in the parking lot.

The people came to order. Songs were sung, hands were lifted high, and the lord (small l) was praised.

Thomas sat quietly in the back row.

A prayer was offered and the people were compelled to pay money to this lord.

Thomas sat quietly in the back row.

A man calmed the room and began to speak of mysteries unknown.  His speech was eloquent, the people listened.

Thomas sat quietly in the back row.

The man spoke of these mysteries for hours; or was it only 45 minutes? Who could tell.

Thomas sat quietly in the back row.

Finally, the man finished. A prayer was given. People took care of this and that, and exited the building as quickly as they came.

Thomas stood quietly in the parking lot.

Cacophony once again filled the air. The parking lot was emptied except for Thomas, he stood there quietly.
